Terence Li Executive Director

Terence became Executive Director of CitySquash in 2014, after re-joining the organization as Program Director in 2012. He previously worked at CitySquash from 2005-2007. Terence was a member of the varsity squash team at Yale University, where he received a B.A. in 2004 in architecture. After leaving CitySquash in 2007, Terence received both an M.Sc. in Economic History from the London School of Economics and an M.B.A from the Yale School of Management. After business school, Terence worked in finance before returning to CitySquash. Terence grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada, where he was a competitive racquetball player. He currently lives in Manhattan with his wife and their three children.

Enrique Aray Director of College Access and Success

Enrique joined CitySquash in 2025. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Universidad Monteávila, Venezuela, and a postgraduate certificate in International Sports Management from CIES-FIFA. He has guided student-athletes through the American college system, providing support with recruitment, tryouts, applications, and visa process. As Director of College Access and Success, Enrique is committed to supporting CitySquash team members throughout their college journeys, from preparing strong applications to making key decisions about their academic and professional futures.

Tate Burgin Director of Placement

Tate joined CitySquash in a full-time capacity in 2025, taking over as Director of Placement. He has experience working with CitySquash as a summer intern in the past, as well as being a 2021 graduate of boarding school (Groton School) himself. He attended Hamilton College from 2021-2025, where he majored in Classical Languages and played on the squash team all four years. He currently lives in Bronxville, NY.

Giustina Charbonneau Program Director

Giustina joined CitySquash in 2017 through the Up2Us Coach program. Giustina earned a B.S. in Psychology and Spanish Language & Literature in 2017 from Fordham University. While at Fordham, Giustina volunteered with CitySquash between 2015 and 2017 as a Homework Help Aide and Learning Center Intern. In addition to having studied abroad in Spain, she has worked with Fordham University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs. Giustina was born and raised in Brewster, NY and lives in the Bronx.

Abby Dziura Director of High School Academics

Abby joined CitySquash in 2025. As Director of High School Academics, she is responsible for developing the academic enrichment curriculum for the 9th-12th grade team members and tracking their academic progress. Abby graduated with a B.A. from Fordham University in 2023, where she majored in American Studies and minored in History and English. After Fordham, she worked for an after-school enrichment program in Hell’s Kitchen and gained experience facilitating workshops for young people. Abby grew up in Connecticut and currently resides in Harlem. 

Abe Etkin Assistant Director of Squash Programming

Abe joined CitySquash in 2025 as the Assistant Director of Squash Programming where he will be helping run tournaments and practices for team members. He has been an avid squash player and team member since joining his middle school team in 2005. He then went on to help coach at the collegiate level for Bard College from 2020-2024, where he had previously graduated with a Literature degree and was captain of the squash team in his 2017 senior year. 

Edgardo Gonzalez Program Director of Squash and Operations

Edgardo joined CitySquash as a staff member in 2025. He was part of the inaugural class of CitySquash in 2002. As the Program Director of Squash and Operations, he is responsible for overseeing all things squash and facility-related, from running tournaments, supervising staff, to leading squash sessions. Before joining CitySquash as a staff member, Edgardo coached at the Hackley School, served as the Director of Squash at the Squash and Education Alliance, overseeing squash programming by organizing national and regional tournaments and managing elite squash development camps throughout the school year and summer. Before working at SEA, Edgardo served six years as a Squash Director at StreetSquash, where he managed a team of squash coaches and the squash progress of over 160 students. Edgardo graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2013, where he majored in Psychology. He was born and currently resides in the Bronx.

Courtney Knowlton Director of Development

Courtney first worked at CitySquash from 2004-2006 at the Director of High School Placement. After leaving CitySquash, she worked as the Program Director and Dean of Faculty at The East Harlem School for fifteen years, before returning to CitySquash as the Development Director. Courtney graduated from Amherst College with a double major in English and Spanish. At Amherst, Courtney played on the varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams. In 2011, she received her MA in Educational Leadership from NYU. Courtney grew up in Montclair, NJ and now lives in Larchmont, NY with her family.

Tara Mitra Director of Middle School Academics

Tara joined CitySquash in 2025 as Director of Middle School Academics. She earned her Master’s of Arts from New York University after completing her undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Philosophy from Wesleyan University. Tara’s master’s thesis developed a holistic methodology to know the self, which included an interdisciplinary art show, Sensing Shadows. While at NYU, Tara was an assistant instructor for various courses in the Anthropology department.  Tara was born and raised in India. She currently lived in Brooklyn, New York. 

Bryan Patterson  Director of Squash

Bryan joined CitySquash in 2007. As Director of Squash, Bryan manages squash practices and oversees the squash development of CitySquash’s team members, leading a fitness program, guiding technical instruction and coaching at tournaments. He competed on the world professional squash circuit and was ranked as high as #2 in the U.K. and #16 in the world. He was a founding member of the ISPA (International Squash Players Association), now the PSA. Bryan represented England in the Home Countries Team Championships, the European Team Championships and Great Britain in the Team and Individual World Championships. As a coach, Bryan has been the English boys’ squads Assistant National Coach, Head Squash Professional at the Squash Club at CHASS in Philadelphia and Head Squash Professional at the Heights Casino in Brooklyn Heights. He was also the director of the USA Junior National squads. Bryan has one son, John, and lives in the Bronx.

Elizabeth Self Director of Elementary School Academics

Elizabeth Self graduated from Columbia College in NYC and the Johns Hopkins School of Education with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. She has taught English as a foreign language abroad and been an elementary and special education teacher in Washington, D.C. and  Boston, Massachusetts. In her practice she centers meaningful inclusion of children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds and of all abilities, especially through creative and artistic learning opportunities. She lives in NYC and enjoys reading, trying new foods, and riding her bike.

Yoshna Singh Program Associate

Yoshna Singh joined CitySquash in 2025 as a Program Associate. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, with a minor in Consumer Psychology, from the University of Pennsylvania, where she also competed on the Women’s Varsity Squash Team. Originally from Pune, India, she was a competitive squash player who represented India in numerous international tournaments, including the World Juniors, Asian Juniors, and the British Junior Open. She has also worked as a research intern with the Social Action Lab at UPenn and volunteered in programs providing sports mentorship and tutoring. She is passionate about working with young people and fostering their love for squash.
